Walking, Walking, Walking.......

So my daughter and I are going to do the El Camino De Santiago walk in July 2019.

History: The common route for the El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) begins at Saint Jean Pied de Port, France, and travels 500 miles through four of Spain’s 15 regions, ending at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

It is a 500 mile pilgrimage walk and I am so excited and nervous to do this. We have a month to do it - so we are actually only going to be doing a little over 350 miles of this walk. Instead of starting in St. Jean, France…. we are going to start a little ways down the path at Burgos… To do this we have got a lot of walking ahead to get ready. Here are my calculations for how far we will be walking…. Just so you get an idea of what is about to take place. Are you ready….

10,000 steps = 5 miles

32,000 steps = 16 miles (which is what we are going to try to walk each day.)

We will be walking a total of 23 days….. So we will be walking

530,000 steps = 368 miles which is approximately how long we will be walking…

When you put it like that we are crazy.

We will have 2 days of rest during the 25 days of walking…

If you are looking at the attached picture we will be doing the route in BLUE….

We are excited, nervous, but so ready to DO THIS…. Wish us luck and by the way…
